Through working closely with our candidates and schools, with timely on-campus visits and check-ups, we make sure our recruitment process is truly a personal one. We take pride in our highly customized and engaging recruitment service, and we’d love to connect with you soon to get you started.

1. It Starts Easy - the Online Application

The first step is to fill out an online application, to tell us things like teaching grade(s), subject or area of interest, education background, work history, geographic preferences, and interest in coaching after-school co-curricular activities. After reviewing your profiles, we will pair you with a hiring specialist and begin one-on-one work to find you an ideal placement in your preferred regions.

2. The Requirements

Different schools demand differently on teacher qualifications. Usually international schools have the highest standards, followed by bilingual schools and public schools. English training centers require the minimal to start. T&Y Education mostly specializes in recruitment for regular international/bilingual day schools, with a few exceptions with some reputable English learning centers.

At the international/bilingual schools, you will be more than just an English teacher, sharing the classroom as a homeroom co-teacher with an English-speaking Chinese partner. Similar to the immersion schools in the U.S., instruction time will be shared between English and Chinese with a preferred proportion decided by the school.

Below are some basic requirements you need to fulfill in order to work in a Chinese school. Don’t hesitate to drop us a line if you have any questions or concerns in this regard.

  • Must be an English native speaker for English Homeroom positions.

  • A valid Teacher Certificate or a Master’s in Education HIGHLY PREFERRED*.

*Candidates with extensive teaching experience in private/independent schools who don’t have a teacher certificate must complete a TEFL/TESOL certificate.

  • Minimum two-year working/internship experience.

3. Our Recruitment Specialists

Each candidate is assigned a recruitment specialist to help find targeted job openings by first learning as much as possible about a candidate’s specialties and needs, going beyond what are listed on a resume. Once we get to know a candidate in regard to his/her career goals and preferences about school types, position types, and locations, we send the candidate’s dossier to schools in our database with the best matching criteria. Throughout the hiring process, our recruitment specialists are dedicated in facilitating the perfect fit, promoting candidates to schools on their behalf, and helping smooth the pre-onboard process and logistics. We are here to make the experience stress-free for both candidates and schools. Our service is completely free of charge for our candidates.
